Eastbourne’s Ben Brown has been ruled out of Sussex Sharks’ clash with Surrey in the Royal London One-Day Cup at the County Ground today (7 May).
The wicketkeeper took a nasty knock to the hand earlier this week, leaving him with a finger injury. He will be replaced behind the stumps by Michael Burgess.
The Sharks made it back-to-back wins in the tournament by sealing a memorable run chase to defeat Kent Spitfires at Canterbury on Friday (5 May). Having been set 332 to win, Luke Wright (64) and Chris Nash (39) set the tone by putting on 80 for the first wicket before Laurie Evans blasted his maiden List A century, hitting 134 not out from only 86 balls, as he and Harry Finch (80) built a match-winning stand of 207 for the fourth wicket.
Sussex now sit in third place in the South Group table, only three points shy of leaders Somerset and a point ahead of tomorrow’s opponents Surrey, who defeated Middlesex by seven wickets yesterday at the Kia Oval.
The Sussex squad is as follows:

Stiaan van Zyl
