Children can learn about staying safe in the sea in Eastbourne this summer.
Popular Tyro Lifeguarding courses will run once again throughout the school holidays, from 25 July – 31 August on the lifeguard station beach every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with morning and afternoon sessions.
The course gives children aged 8-14 the chance to learn about staying safe in the water, in the sun and on the beach. They are taught on four levels; from an introduction to the sea and basic life support, to correctly using lifeguarding equipment and practicing sea rescues from a lifeboat. The course costs £18 per 3 hour session or £60 for all four sessions.
Kidzsafe wristbands, which are brightly coloured, waterproof, free and are used to protect children in the incidence of getting lost, are available from the Lifeguard Station and Seafront Office all summer.
