The Eastbourne Eagles are back in action this evening (27 May).
They host Plymouth Devils at Arlington Stadium in the National League, with young star, Tom Brennan uncertain to race, owing to fighting tonsillitis earlier in the week.
Eastbourne thumped the Devonians at the start of the season on their home St Boniface Arena track but Dugard reckons they are a potential threat to his team’s home record.
Team manager, Connor Dugard said, “On their day, they can surprise anyone. Steve Boxall at number one is a big threat to any team, home or away, and Benji Compton is very capable.
“The top of the table is incredibly tight at the moment and we must win to keep up with the leaders.”
Plymouth also track Richard Andrews, who was a big hit with home fans in the club’s first season in the National League in 2015. He was injured on the opening day of the 2016 season and lost his place.
There is a six-heat Southern Development League match after the main meeting between the Reading Racers and the Devon Demons.
Reading lost its speedway track some years ago but now a group of fans is trying to revive the sport in the town. Their first move has been to establish a team, who will ride their home matches this year at Arlington.
