Men Try To Steal Dog At Beachy Head

A man’s been punched, as two men tried to steal his dog at Beachy Head.

The man, who’s from Seaford, was walking Winston, the 14-month-old cross-bred Labrador/American Bulldog, on Friday 26 May, when two men, of Eastern European appearance accosted him.

One of them suggested he should hand over his pet for a dog fight and when the owner refused, his was punched in the face, causing a large swelling below his right eye. The second would be thief tried, unsuccessfully to grab Winston’s lead and the pair fled up a hill towards Eastbourne.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen two men acting suspiciously in the area that evening or from other dog owners who may also have been approached.
