Eastbourne MP, Stephen Lloyd, has paid tribute to Tim Farron, following his resignation last night (14 June).
Mr Farron will stand down as leader of the Liberal Democrats next month, citing the questioning of his faith on his political views as the main reason for his decision, having been put under scrutiny as to whether he believed homosexual sex was wrong.
Mr Lloyd, who was re-elected as the town’s MP last week, said, "Tim was honest and sincere in his resignation. Just like the man himself. We all appreciate the hard work he did in helping lift the Liberal Democrats from the defeat we experienced in 2015. To have increased our MP tally by 50% only two years after, is no mean feat. I look forward to working with him in Parliament over the coming years as his considerable experience will, I know, be put to good use by the Party."
