Two school children from Eastbourne have been representing their Young Enterprise company at the Regional Finals in Surrey.
Amelia Jones and Jake Wheatley attended the event at Dorking Halls in Dorking last Thursday (15 June) on behalf of Millennuim+, the company they helped to form at Ratton School.
The event is heralded as ‘the culmination of a year in business for more than 1,700 young people aged 15 to 19 who have taken part in the Young Enterprise Programme in the 2016/17 academic year across South East England – Kent, Surrey, Sussex and The Channel Islands’.
Both Amelia and Jake had been nominated for the Journey Award and shortlisted to the last four. The award is open to every one of the 1,700 participants and is recognition of the impact that the Company Programme has had on the individuals and how they have developed over the year.
In the competition Jake came runner up, being pipped to the post by Amelia, who won the Award outright and is now to be considered for the National Award to be held at the British Film Institute in July.
There to present the award was Luke Liddiard, the 2014 National Winner of the Journey Award, an inspiration to us all as he has turned his life around from being homeless at 16 to setting up a successful company of his own.
