An Eastbourne teacher has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Colonel Anthony Lamb, who is also a Deputy Lord Lieutenant, has received the recognition for his services to Eastbourne College’s CCF and wider cadet movement.
Assistant Head Co-Curricular at the College, Colonel Lamb, has served as a Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer for 22 years and at Eastbourne College, commands 330 cadets and 28 officers – one of the largest tri-service units in the country.
A member of the Territorial Army, he also took a leave of absence from his education work, so undertake an operational tour of Iraq in 2007.
Commenting, Colonel Lamb said, “I am over the moon, I am delighted and honoured in equal measure. The cadet experience is a great one for young people and to be able to contribute to this, to work alongside many other talented and generous adults who do the same is something special and to be recognised for doing something I love is the icing on the cake.”
