It was a busy day for Eastbourne Lifeboats yesterday (18 June).
At 1.40am, the Diamond Jubilee were called to a 7metre yacht, which had suffered engine failure close to Beachy Head. The stricken vessel was found about a mile off the coast and was towed into Sovereign Harbour, having been sailing from Rye to Brighton.
At 10am, the crew took both the All Weather and Inshore vessels out for their weekly training session.
Then, at 5.30pm the volunteers launched to a 7metre power boat, with three people on board. The vessel was close to Beachy Head when it suffered engine failure and was towed back to Sovereign Harbour.
Sadly, the inshore lifeboat was called to Beachy Head at 6.20pm. The crew, along with the coastguards and the helicopter from Lidd made the recovery and returned to the lifeboat station at 9pm.
