Jobs at BHS in Eastbourne look likely to go as the company is wound down.
It has been announced today, that despite great efforts to save the chain, a sale of the business hasn’t been agreed.
Now the store in the Arndale Centre will go into closing down sale mode over the coming weeks, along with the other 162 sites across the country.
The administrators say they will continue to make efforts to sell stores, but fear 8000 jobs are likely to go.
Philip Duffy, Managing Director of Duff & Phelps and Joint Administrator said, "The British high street is changing and in these turbulent times for retailers, BHS has fallen as another victim of the seismic shifts we are seeing. The tireless work and goodwill of the existing management team and employees of BHS with the support of my team were not enough to change the fortunes of the company."
