An event in Eastbourne has seen volunteers spend 9 hours laying out donated coins for Cancer Research UK.
Choe Markwick, who’s on the committee for Relay for Life Eastbourne, has been running the fundraiser for the past four years, raising almost £4,000. This year’s ‘Mile of Coins’ at All Saints Church, notched up £844.13.
Chloe was inspired to come up with the idea by her late uncle, who died from cancer. He used to save copper coins in a jar, which became the first coins to be laid down at the first Mile of Coins challenge.
The event will be going ahead again next year and she’s already asking us to start saving our change.
