Polegate commuters are braced for more delays and cancellations on the trains, after more strike action was announced on Southern Rail this week.

With the train drivers’ union, ASLEF, planning three days of action next month and already operating an overtime ban, it’s feared more services could be hit, as the row over driver-only operation trains rumbles on, now coupled with a pay dispute.

Also this week, the Department of Transport has instructed Southern’s parent company, Govia Thameslink Rail, to pay £13.4million into improving services, after being found by the Government to be running a poor service for customers.
