We’re being asked to always stop and check on an animal if we hit it when driving.
It’s after a badger died on Eastbourne seafront on Thursday night (2 June), despite the best efforts by rescuers from East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service.
The driver had called for help and waited for help to arrive, but sadly the animal passed away at the scene.
WRAS are applauding the motorist for calling for help and recognise that it’s not always possible to avoid animals on the road. However, they are urging us to always see if the creature has lived and to call a rescue organisation for help, saying that one phone “can make all the difference between life and death”.
