Polegate MP, Maria Caulfield, has welcomed an £1.3b a year increase in school funding for two years announced by the Education Secretary.
Justine Greening announced yesterday (17 July) that the schools budget will rise by £1.3b over each of the next two years to £43.5b in 2019/2020. This represents the biggest increase in schools funding for over a decade.
The new National Funding Formula will also ensure that underfunded schools in rural areas, such as Lewes, do not miss out and receive increases in the per pupil budget.
Maria Caulfield said, “Following a lengthy campaign to lobby Government Ministers I am pleased that this extra £1.3b of funding for each of the next two years has been announced.
“This money alongside the new National Funding Formula will see schools in Lewes receiving more money per pupil. We want to see every child receiving a world class education and this money will certainly help to achieve that.”
