As part of her ongoing support for WASPI women Polegate MP, Maria Caulfield, has co-signed a Bill that aims to seek changes to support women negatively affected by pension changes.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) decided that the best way to proceed with the campaign is a Bill which will be presented in Parliament after the summer recess.
The Bill is planned to be titled ‘Pensions (Review of Women’s Arrangements) (No. 2)’ will seek to undertake costings for a compensation scheme, and review the current pension arrangements for WASPI women.
Maria Caulfield, who was recently made Vice Chair of the APPG on WASPI said, “I know of many WASPI women in my constituency who are really struggling because of sudden changes to their state pension age.
“These women and I believe that it fair to equalise the state pension age but women need transitional arrangements and time to prepare for the changes.
“This Bill will seek to resolve the issues, compensating those already affected and reviewing the pension arrangements for WASPI women.”
