The Catalina flying boat and the Hispano Buchon are the latest to join a packed 25th anniversary line-up at Airbourne: Eastbourne International Airshow from 17 – 20 August.

The amphibious Catalina, one of which once landed on the sea at Airbourne, joins a programme of other aerial favourites from the last 24 years featuring the impressive Belgian F-16 ‘Blizzard’, the sky-scraping RAF Typhoon, heavy duty Chinook and the Red Arrows.

Also joining the line-up is the Hispano Buchon, hot on the heels of its starring role in this summer’s Hollywood epic movie ‘Dunkirk’.

Eastbourne Borough Council Director of Tourism & Enterprise, Philip Evans said, “In 24 years we’ve seen some truly epic displays, all worthy of the big screen, and this year will be no exception!  It’s great to see so many crowd favourites and high energy fast jets back in town, but with the addition of some brand new compelling Airbourne debuts and even a movie star or two!”

Returning crowd favourites include the memorable and poignant Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, The Blades, Breitling Wingwalkers, the cold war Norwegian MiG-15 jet, Team Raven, Hawker Hurricane, Fireflies, Sioux & Scout helicopters and The Tigers parachute display team who will be dropping into see fans on the beach.

Memphis Belle star ‘Miss Helen’ brings a brand new Boultbee Mustang display to Eastbourne, while the Boultbee Spitfire, Strikemaster, Gyrocopter and highly acclaimed Rich Goodwin Pitts Special also make their Airbourne debuts.

Former Tornado pilot, Rich Goodwin, has garnered stunning reviews of his unique brand of high energy muscle biplane performance, at times even hovering like a Harrier, performing backwards flight and high alpha knife-edge flypasts.

Red 2 to Perform Over Home Town

Crowd favourite, the world famous, The Red Arrows, will return with a triple bill this year bringing a brand new ‘Wall’ arrival manoeuvre and displays on Friday at 3pm, Saturday 12pm and Sunday 12pm.

Featuring new Red Arrows pilot Flt Lt Toby Keeley in Red 2, the new recruit has achieved his childhood dream and will be flying over his home town, many years since watching their displays as a child at Airbourne.

Glittering Finish

As sparkling fireworks bring the show to a close on the Sunday evening at 10pm, fans can marvel beforehand at a double-bill of glittering twilight displays from both the Fireflies and the Twister display teams, with wingtip pyrotechnics, spotlight smoke trails and glowing LEDs.

This year also sees a free family-friendly film feast at the end of flying each day with Trolls (2016), Paddington (2014), Planes 2: Fire & Rescue (2014) and The Jungle Book (2016) all on big screen at the Wish Tower beach, closing an action-packed day.

On the ground, a military exhibition showcases the best of the RAF, Army & Navy, alongside a giant Chinook, RAF selfie photobooth, helicopter pleasure flights, children’s entertainment, evening concerts at the Bandstand and much more.
