Sport Eastbourne is encouraging the whole family to embrace the outdoors this summer, beginning with a morning of free active fun at the Archery’s outdoor green gym on Tuesday (8 August) from 10am-12pm.
Visitors are invited to learn about the 10 unique fitness stations which include the ‘body twister’, ‘horseback rider’ and ‘space walker’, all of which make for the ultimate full body workout. The first 30 people who come along to learn more about the fitness stations will walk away with a goody bag filled with fitness-related goods.
Residents interested in exercising a change of lifestyle will have the chance to get hands-on with the equipment and participate in free taster sessions alongside a fully trained instructor for guidance on how to get active and healthy in a gentle manageable way. Health experts will also be on hand to answer any questions or queries visitors have about fitness and provide advice tailored to the individual’s needs.
Eastbourne Borough Council Director of Tourism and Enterprise, Phil Evans said, “This is an ideal opportunity for residents and visitors to learn more about the health benefits of getting active and make great use of the fantastic free facilities we have here in Eastbourne. It just goes to show that you don’t need to break the bank to keep on top of your health!”
In a bid to get people of all ages and abilities embracing exercise, Sport Eastbourne will be working in partnership with East Sussex County Council and Beat the Street, a fun and interactive challenge to get the whole community moving. Tesco’s will be present to provide refreshments for all and Proactive Care practitioners will be on hand to take visitors blood pressure, advising on a healthy lifestyle.
The outdoor green gym was opened in 2009 to encourage the local community to be more active, whilst having fun at the same time. The gym is open to all ages and abilities and aims to encourage people to get outdoors and enjoy some active, free fun.
