Disappointment for Eastbourne Borough as they start the new National League South season with a home defeat.
Hosting Braintree at Priory Lane yesterday (5 August), Yemi Odubade looked on fire, as he was narrowly denied his shot, just 5 minutes in. However, a mistake by the visitors 13 minutes later, saw Yemi take full advantage and fired one into the bottom corner, giving Borough the lead.
Nat Pinney doubled that lead just 2 minutes later and by the break, Braintree had pulled one back and Borough skipper, Sergio Torres had picked up a yellow card.
Kiran Khinda-John was sent off in the second half, reducing the home side to just ten men, which Braintree took full advantage of, scoring twice in the space of four minutes.
A full time, it was Eastbourne United 2 – 3 Braintree.
