The heavens opened over Eastbourne this evening (7 June).
The Met Office, who had issued a yellow severe weather warning for rain, had changed its forecast to dry with sunny spells for the evening, with less than a 5% chance of rain.
However, just after 6pm, heavy rain fell, along with thunder, lightning and large hail stones.
In just over an hour, one weather watcher in Pevensey Bay recorded 45mm of rain falling.
The Met Office is keeping its warning in place until 6am tomorrow, but currently forecast a dry, cloudy night for Eastbourne with a low of 16C.
