Eastbourne Borough picked up a valuable point in the National League South yesterday (12 August).
Away to Hampton and Richmond Borough, they were again reduced to ten men, as Gary Charman was sent off for fouling a Hampton player. Hampton took full advantage of their free kick, firing it home into the bottom corner, giving them a 1-0 lead at the break.
Going into the second half, The Sports knew, once again, they had a lot to do and it fell to Nathaniel Pinney in the 51st to draw them level from the penalty spot.
Hampton kept the pressure on their visitors, pressing home their man advantage. It looked as though they were going to extend their lead, but were denied a goal for offside. Will Hendon was shown the red card for fouling a Hampton player in the box, but the hosts were unable to use it, sending it over the crossbar.
Five minutes of stoppage time was added to the clock, seeing The Sports having to play with just 9 men for the remaining 10 minutes of the game. However, their hosts failed to make use of the situation and the final score ended in a 1-1 draw.
