Bomb disposal experts are currently at Beachy Head after an unexploded shell was discovered this morning (4 September).
It was seen sticking from the cliff edge off Beachy Head Road and police were called at 10.38am. Bomb experts were called around 2pm.
Emergency services are currently in the Shooters Bottom area of Beachy Head.
Coastguards and police are keeping the cliff clear, with the Eastbourne Inshore Lifeboat patrolling the beaches to ensure they are kept clear.
Update: The bomb was destroyed by Explosive Ordinance Disposal at around 4.15pm.
