CDS Electrical in Polegate are hosting their second charity walking event this month, raising vital funds for Chestnut Tree children’s hospice.
On Saturday 16 September the team will walk from Eastbourne Pier to Hastings Pier, a distance of 15.2 miles. The route will take them along the Sussex coast from Eastbourne through Sovereign Harbour, Pevensey and Westham, Normans Bay, Cooden Beach, Collington, Bexhill and St. Leonards, before arriving in Hastings.
Last year the firm raised £670 for the charity and are hoping to beat that total this year. They are also looking for more people to join them. “We’d like to open the challenge up and get as many people as possible taking on the walk,” says Managing Director Corin Dudley. “Last year we had people of all abilities, from those who run 100 mile ultra-marathons to others who rarely walk any distance, but they all completed the challenge in good time, crossing the finish line together.”
Chestnut Tree is the children’s hospice for Sussex and is a charity that CDS regularly support. “We have put our Hands Up to support Chestnut Tree many times in the past as it is a charity that we feel very passionately about” Corin says. “Knowing that the money raised is helping provide much needed help to local families was enough motivation for us to take on the challenge for a second year.”
Anybody wishing to join the walk can register their interest on CDS Electrical’s Facebook page, or simply join the team at Eastbourne Pier just before 9am on Saturday 16 September. Anybody wishing to sponsor the walkers can do so, here.
