When it comes to closing libraries, it’s certainly not a subject to silence politicians in Eastbourne.
The latest voice to join the quell of concern over East Sussex County Council’s proposals to close seven across the county, is the leader of the Conservative Group in Eastbourne, Tony Freebody.
He’s also unsure as to whether losing library services is the best way to save money – with County Hall saying closing the libraries in Langney, Willingdon, Pevensey Bay and Polegate, along with three others, would save them £653,000.
The County Council’s cabinet will look at the proposals on Tuesday (19 September) before deciding to go to a public consultation.
