Southern have confirmed that disruption is expected on trains between Eastbourne and Lewes until around midday, after a person was hit by a train earlier this morning (22 September).
A 25-year-old man sadly died after being struck at Ripe level crossing at 5.46am. British Transport Police and paramedics were called to the scene and his family has been informed.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
Trains are now running from Eastbourne towards London and Ashford International, with rail replacement buses operating between Eastbourne and Brighton, stopping at all stations in between, with the same service running between Lewes and Eastbourne.
