Willingdon Parish Council Unhappy At Housing Plans

eastbourne buzz news - Willingdon Parish Council Meeting

Plans for up to 1100 new homes in Willingdon haven’t been given a warm welcome.

At a Parish Council meeting on Monday (2 October), objections were noted against the Mornings Mill Farm proposals, which also include a medical centre, primary school, retail, playing fields, children’s space, allotments and affordable housing.

Councillors felt the development would be too much and would lead to the final urbanisation of Willingdon, losing the last green space that attracted so many people to live in the area. Concerns were raised about flooding should the development go ahead.

The applicant, Charles Vine, addressed the meeting to highlight the need for more housing and to say he wants to create a community that people would want to live in and to keep the area as close to what it is now, but without agriculture going ahead.

The Parish Council’s objections will now be passed to planners at Wealden District Council.
