Eastbourne MP Caroline Ansell wants all schoolchildren to visit Parliament.
She’s urging all schools in the town to book a trip so pupils can get a first-hand understanding of how government and democracy works.
Caroline regularly hosts schools from the town, but she feels that every pupil should have the opportunity of visiting Parliament and meeting their MP.
“Westminster is a fascinating place full of history and also full of the story about our struggle for democracy over many years,” said Caroline.
“I cannot but think this is a very important part of any child’s education, so I will be writing to all head teachers giving them an open invitation to get a trip for their pupils organised.
“But any pupil or parent reading this can also take the initiative and raise the idea with teachers themselves.”
Recently, Caroline met with pupils from West Rise School, who went to the capital for a visit and tour of Westminster.
