Eastbourne celebrates its beach lifestyle this summer as the town’s first ever Beach Life festival kicks off on 16-17 July, adding new brand new attractions to some of the highlights from last year’s Eastbourne Extreme.
The free two-day festival returns with a new look and new vibe, offering more family-friendly fun coupled with the return of seafront sporting favourites from windsurfing to inline skating.
Stretching across the Eastern Promenade will be the popular VW Bus Stop attraction, featuring over 100 Volkswagen Campers. The colourful display will extend from the brand new brightly coloured beach huts, bringing a bohemian beach life vibe for crowds to admire and enjoy.
Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Enterprise Cllr Margaret Bannister has said, “Eastbourne Extreme has naturally changed over the last few years into a relaxed family-friendly festival by the beach. Skating, water sports and fitness regimes are all part of the wonderful beach life that we have here.
Our new and bright beach huts, along with the other changes taking place at Princes Park, are developing the Eastern Seafront into an exciting, family orientated beach spot. The progression of the area, and the launch of Beach Life Festival is very motivating, and worth celebrating!”
New activities at the Beach Life festival include Rodeo Bull, Last Man Standing and an inflatable go kart track as well welcoming back extreme favourites, Bubble Football, Bungee Trampolines and the live music stage.
Skating is another huge part of the festival with a freestyle skate park takeover for practicing stunts, and the only outdoor roller derby tournament in Europe which will be back challenging teams across the country!
Windsurfing is on the Beach Life menu as Buzz Active provide activity tasters for all budding new windsurfers and sailors, inviting both adults and children to dive in and try something new.
As well as being active, Beach Life encourages visitors to relax and enjoy themselves by the Live Music Stage. Music lovers can also venture into the town centre for Eastbourne Music Live’s second year in town, which runs from 16-24 July showcasing local musical talent in venues across Eastbourne.
Beach Life will officially open 16 – 17 July on Eastbourne’s Eastern Seafront and Princes Park with free entry.
