The Chief Executive of Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce wants to see a second referendum into the UK’s future with Europe.

After the town joined the majority of the country in voting to leave the EU on Thursday (23 June), Christina Ewbank has taken to social media, calling for a petition to be signed to try and force the country to vote again.

In her tweet she says, “We need to get out of this mess!”

In a statement Christina said, "Now is the time to work together for the benefit of our business community and the future of our Country. Regardless of how you voted, this is a time of great change and we will be working and lobbying extensively on your behalf to ensure that the interests of the business community are met.

We hold regular meetings with SELEP (the South East Local Enterprise Partnership), MPs, Local Councils, the British Chamber of Commerce, The Federation of Small Business and indeed the Bank of England. We look forward to working with these partners, and will lobby ferociously to ensure our economy remains strong."
