Around 700 people attended a Sunday Funday held at Sevenoaks Park in Langney, last weekend (June 26) raising more than £1,500 for charity.
Four of Eastbourne Homes’ Area Panels (Central & Archery, Hampden Park & Willingdon Trees, Old Town and Langney) funded and organised the annual fun day, which is now in its third year.
The charities which will benefit are the RNLI, The Shed, Hazel Court School and Sussex Autism.
The event saw many groups from the town come together, including the Eastbourne team from A Band of Brothers, who cooked a barbeque and, along with Eastbourne Homes repair service, Mears, provided the man power to put the event on.
Skateworld took care of the music, Ice fusion Cheerleading performed in the arena and Cobie VetCare put on a popular dog show. Canines from the Greyhound Rescue and Hug a Husky also proved popular.
Candy Vaughan, Chair of Langney Area Panel, said, “This event shows how well the Area Panels work together to provide not just a great day out to raise money for charity, but more importantly an affordable day out for all the family. I’d like to say a massive thank you to all who came and to the amazing groups of volunteers who supported the day.”
Ian Fitzpatrick, Managing Director of Eastbourne Homes, said, “This year’s Sunday Funday was the best yet. The weather was kind to us and it was great to see so many people enjoying a great day out to help some very important charities.”
Stalls included Bikeability, Eastbourne Health Champions, Bourne to Recycle, Shinewater Primary School, Road Safety Partnership, East Sussex Fire and Rescue, Tesco community team and the Sovereign Centre.
