MP Caroline Ansell has met with Eastbourne carers as part of her support to make communities more carer friendly.
The Carers Week campaign raises awareness of thousands of unpaid carers in the town and recognises the contribution they make to families and communities.
As part of week, local organisation Care for the Carers, invited Caroline to take part in the East Sussex Carers Week Challenge at St Barnabas Church Hall in Kingfisher Drive.
She was able to meet with unpaid carers and hear directly about the reality of their day to day lives.
“There are 11,000 people in Eastbourne who care for a loved one, friend or neighbour and supporting them in this role is absolutely vital, so it was good to hear about their experiences,” said Caroline.
“Our discussion was wide ranging and there were many excellent points made about how we improve carers’ experiences and build more friendly communities that recognise the invaluable work they do.”
