Polegate MP Maria Caulfield has been campaigning for women to join WASPI.
Maria, who’s a founding member of the WASPI All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), joined WASPI activists – which now campaigns on behalf of more than 2.4 million affected women - on College Green in Westminster yesterday afternoon (1 July), before dropping into a Q&A session in parliament.
Both events looked to encourage Conservative parliamentary colleagues to back the MP’s already supporting the WASPI campaign, as did a Mass Lobby of Parliament later in the day.
Speaking after the event, Maria said, “I have been contacted by hundreds of women that will be affected by the changes to women’s pensions, and have pledged to work within the WASPI APPG and alongside parliamentary colleagues in order to bring about an acceptable outcome to the concerns that have been raised.
“I am hopeful that these events will be useful in gaining further parliamentary support for the campaign, and I look forward to welcoming more colleagues onto the APPG.”
