Details have emerged about a crash which closed the A2270 in Willingdon on Friday afternoon (8 July).
Three cars collided on Willingdon Road near the junction with Church Street at 12.05pm.
A blue Ford Escort estate car, travelling south, hit the railings and a road sign on the central reservation. The 86-year-old man from Hailsham who was driving, was taken to the DGH for observation after being unable to remember the crash.
Two other vehicles trying to dodge the car then collided - a grey BMW driven by a 45-year-old man from Bognor Regis, and a grey Ford Fiesta, driven by a 27-year-old woman from Horam. The driver of the BMW was treated for shock.
Road closures and diversions were put in place until the scene was eventually cleared at 1.52pm. This inevitably led to traffic delays and bus diversions. Fire crews were also called to the scene.
Police would like to thank motorists who were affected for their patience and co-operation.
