More details have come to light after yesterday’s (11 July) crash on the A27 involving two lorries at Firle.
Just before 8am, a yellow Volvo 320 truck travelling west and a white Isuzu Easy Shift travelling east, collided with each other.
The Volvo driver, a 27-year-old man from Darlington, County Durham, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with a serious leg injury.
The Isuzu driver, a 41-year-old man from Newhaven, was left with cuts to his face. Both he and his passenger, a 56-year-old man from Newhaven, were treated at the scene for shock.
The road was shut for several hours as the vehicles had to be separated before they could be recovered. Traffic was heavily disrupted during this time.
