The Mayor of Eastbourne is preparing to be bowled over with the success of her first fundraising event in office.
Councillor Pat Hearn, who took over the role in May, is hosting the Mayor’s Charity Bowls Tournament at Hampden Park Open Bowls Club on Sunday 24 July.
All funds raised will be split between the Mayor’s two chosen charities of the year - Refuge which helps women and children affected by domestic violence, and The Eastbourne Open Award Centre for the Duke of Edinburgh Award, a programme of personal development for young people.
Councillor Hearn said, “These charities carry out such brilliant and vital work, I hope we can raise as much as possible for them over the coming year.
“The bowls tournament will be a really fun day so please come down and join us for either the morning or afternoon session, or both if you are very keen! People of any level of experience are welcome.”
Sessions run from 10am to noon, and 2pm to 4pm. There are trophies for winners of both morning and afternoon sessions.
Entry costs £10 per person including a buffet lunch. Payment is required in advance.
