An Eastbourne burglar is behind bars.
George Cunningham of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to two offences at Lewes Crown Court and was jailed for six years.
The 49-year-old broke into a house in Melvill Lane between 13 and 16 October, whilst the owners were on holiday and stole jewellery, a laptop and a First World War medal.
On 23 October, Cunningham broke into a house in Kings Drive and took a camera. He attempted to burgle the same address a week later.
Detective Constable Costin Bonell of the East Sussex Priority Crime Team said; "The sentence given to Mr Cunningham serves as a warning to others about the seriousness of breaking into people's homes and the likely sentences they can expect when caught.
"He targeted these two addresses with no regard for the occupiers or their possessions some of which were irreplaceable items with significant sentimental value."
