The Rotary Club of Sovereign Harbour has a new President at the helm, Stephen (Steve) Newman has stepped up to lead the Club for the coming year.
Steve has a considerable background in Rotary having first joined the Rotary Club of Kyalami in South Africa in 2007 where he was involved in several projects that were focused on improving the lives of the disadvantaged in the local area.
He was Club President during 2010-11 when the Club helped support a local school by providing books as well as general building maintenance. The Club also raised funds to provide a mobile clinic which was able to travel to local townships to treat those who were unable to get to the main centre.
In 2013 Steve was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship.
In 2013 Steve returned home to England and joined the Rotary Club of Chesham where he was involved in organising a 55 horse Point to Point in aid of Riding for the Disabled as well as helping to organise the Club Christmas activities.
Steve, and his wife Liz, relocated to Sovereign Harbour in early 2015 and joined the Rotary Club of Sovereign Harbour where he has been a very active member.
Joining Steve as part of the new team are Gordon Jenkins as President Elect and Michael Steel as Club Secretary, along with Brian Holmes who continues as the Club Treasurer and Don Perman and Peter Thomas, both of whom are Past Presidents of the Club.
