The police helicopter has been spotted over Eastbourne this morning (14 July), as it chased a wanted man.
The pursuit started when a wanted man was spotted in a car near Hailsham - he was located in a pre-planned police operation by officers investigating a series of burglaries in the county.
Police chased a silver 4x4 along the B2104 and on to the A22 before it turned west on to the A27 towards Lewes, but left the A27 near Folkington, before crashing through a fence and heading cross country up on to the Downs.
It smashed through a number of fences and gates before coming to a halt in woodland north of Westdean, where it became stuck. The man ran into woodland, where he was being sought by the helicopter and ground-based units just after 12 noon.
The National Police Air Service helicopter was seen over Eastbourne, Hailsham, Battle and Friston Forest during the pursuit.
