Fire crews from Eastbourne were called to Hastings seafront this afternoon (14 July) to deal with a chemical incident.
The Incident Response Unit and an appliance were called to support crews from Hastings, The Ridge and Battle, along the aerial ladder platform from Hastings and the Control Unit from Bexhill.
They found a spillage of around 5 litres of potassium hydroxide.
Three people were taken to safety and were issued first aid by paramedics.
Two breathing apparatus and one hose reel were used during the initial stages, followed by decontamination procedures for those involved at the scene.
