St Catherine’s College, the new name for Bishop Bell CE School, hosted a summer concert to mark the end of the school year and say farewell to Year 11 pupils.
More than 100 students and teachers performed at the evening, either playing musical instruments or singing. They were watched by parents and other members of the school community.
Music teacher, David Woozley, said, “This year, we were blessed to celebrate a truly unique group of Year 11 pupils, whose energy and enthusiasm have helped carry the music department over the last five years.
“Every year group is special and has its own merits but, once in a while, you get a truly exceptional group of young people in one year. We feel very proud to have taught them, and to watch them become confident, talented musicians and compassionate, motivated young adults.”
The school is also saying goodbye to head of music, Cheryl Gibson, who is retiring after 15 years. She was described by David Woozley as having built the music department into a thriving and supportive community, where children feel safe, valued and confident to share their talents.
