It’s been a busy day for volunteers in Eastbourne.
Edible Eastbourne has been planting new fruit trees in Gildredge Park, as part of their quest to grow healthy food around the town.
Today, near the tennis courts, they’ve put in sapling apple trees, including two Eastbourne Pippins, which are the town’s heritage apple. They’ve also planted plum trees, raspberries, gooseberries, rhubarb, thyme, sage and rosemary.
There are already plans in place to add more seasonal herbs and pollinators throughout the year.
The project, Fruitful Eastbourne, is being supported by the Borough Council.
